Meet the New Coach

Our newly appointed Senior Women’s Coach Claire Heffernan is looking forward to meeting prospective new players on Monday 20th November, 2017 at 6.30pm at Clifton Park.

This will be a fantastic opportunity to hear about her vision for our inaugural season in 2018, preseason requirements and meet your possible future team mates. Following the meeting will be a 45 minute fitness and strengthening session with Claire and our women’s fitness guru Michelle Langtip. No need for footy boots just yet… come along in your activewear!

Player recruitment

Our committe has been incredibly active over the past couple of months. After the appointment of our coach we conducted a hugely successful information night on October 11th and were delighted with the strong number of players that attended. We are confident that with the higher than expected expressions of interest already received, Aberfeldie Sports Club will be fielding an enthusiastic and competitive Senior Women's team in 2018.  For further information on any aspect of the Women's Senior Football section please email your enquiries to:   womensfootball@abers.com.au   and we will endeavour to make contact with you.

Coach Announcement

On October 8th, 2017 we were thrilled to officially announce the appointment of our Head Coach for Senior Women’s Football:
Claire Heffernan

With a long and enormously successful playing career, including State Metro representation, a VFL Premiership, club Best and Fairest, and induction into St. Kilda Sharks Team of the Decade; we are confident that Claire’s passion and experience will ensure the inaugural Senior Women’s Team is in the best possible hands.

This is a very exciting time for our club and we are sure you will join us in making Claire feel right at home at Abers. We have been working diligently to attract players for Season 2018.  Below are some points to consider if you wish to be a player with us, and remember you are all welcome to join.

Why play at Abers?

This is your chance to be part of history. This is our first senior women’s team after a successful entry into junior football. In 2016 we launched Under 12s and Under 18s. The Under 12s did us proud winning the premiership in 2016. In 2017 we grew to three teams – U12, U15 and U18.

Be You

We strive for an inclusive culture. We embrace diversity and individuality. We believe everyone has a leader inside them that we want to grow and develop through football – being the best YOU can be and achieving your potential. Each player will have different motivations for playing football. Whether you are here to embrace life as a local footy player or be the next Daisy Pearce our environment will support.

Be Abers

Abers has a 'whole of club' philosophy and we strive to embrace it. Our results on and off the filed has made us the strongest club in the area with families from all over the region enjoying membership. We aim to assimilate into the club rather than be a separate team. The club's manifesto is important to us.
