SCHOOL'S BACK & SO IS CRICKET!

TRAINING OVERVIEW AT A GLANCE
(Click here to see the schedule)

After a few false starts thanks to the weather last October, the Junior Cricket section has now passed the halfway mark of the competition calendar and here we are in the midst of a hot summer and all kids are still champing at the bit to score some runs and gets some wins on the board for the club.

Training attendances were generally good prior to Christmas and will no doubt improve once the weather follows suit. Naturally most players have finished their school holidays and are back into training and matches. The remainder of the season will continue with hopefully some premierships to celebrate come the end of the season!

In the meantime, Aberfeldie provided strong representation in a number of representative cricket carnivals during January.

We congratulate the following boys on their selection and hoped they enjoyed the experience:

Under 16 Northwest Wizards - Tom Ingleton

Under 16 NWMCA - Nathan McLennan, Pranish Singh (Coach)

Under 15 RM Hatch Shield - Max Tonna

Under 14 Northwest Wizards - Zac Margariti, Jon Merlo, Tom Winchester (captain)

Under 14 NWMCA - Chris Croswell, Zac Mevissen, Gerard Legge-Wilkinson (Coach)

Under 12 NWMCA - Riley Macdonald (captain), Dan Spencer

Be mindful that parental involvement is crucial in the running of individual teams here at Aberfeldie. Each team is expected to have a team manager. It is not expected that the team manager and coach do all of the work. The Coach should be exempt from any additional tasks, except umpiring, should they wish to do so.

It goes without saying that player and parent behaviour at games needs to be of the highest standard. Cricket should be played for enjoyment, where winning, whilst important, is not the reason we play. Parents need to be mindful of not playing the game vicariously through their kids, whilst players should remember the club's 'spirit of cricket' philosophies. Let's all enjoy the games. Play hard, barrack hard but always be respectful.
